RACING SPIRIT was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, RACING SPIRIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, LANCELOT was taken back. AMITYSHIP was slow into stride, then making the turn at the 1000 Metres became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of VANQUISH DELIGHT. DAILY DOUBLE, which was following, was steadied in consequence. In the early stages, DAILY DOUBLE was taken back. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, ENGINEERING WONDER was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of TRUE INTELLIGENCE and close to the heels of COOL CAT. At the 400 Metres, DAILY DOUBLE was steadied away from the heels of ENGINEERING WONDER. After the 200 Metres, VANQUISH DELIGHT was steadied away from the heels of TRUE INTELLIGENCE which initially was carried wider by ENGINEERING WONDER and then shifted further away from that horse. Throughout the race, MIRACLE FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. MIRACLE FORTUNE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MIRACLE FORTUNE after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MIRACLE FORTUNE was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, MIRACLE FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ENGINEERING WONDER and DOUBLE DRAGON were sent for sampling. <12/2/2009 Additional Veterinary Report > MIRACLE FORTUNE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. MIRACLE FORTUNE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, MIRACLE FORTUNE will have to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
