On May 23rd, a turf trial over 1000m at Conghua saw the horse jump slightly slow, settling comfortably and tracking forward along the rail. Four weeks ago, he ran a respectable race over 2400m on the Sha Tin turf, jumping moderately and settling towards the rear before finishing second with a strong late run, beaten by half a length. A recent barrier trial didn’t show significant improvement. Dropping back in class for this race, switching to a dirt mile for his debut at this distance, he benefits from a one-pound weight reduction. Compared to the competition, his ability stands out as superior; the jockey has some familiarity with the horse's capabilities, and trackwork has been positive. Despite a potentially unsuitable distance, he is expected to settle towards the rear but may lack the finishing kick of rivals. The trainer-jockey combination doesn’t appear ideally suited, however, there's potential for an upset victory.
