ESPACE D’OR and KIMBERLEY bumped at the start. Shortly after the start, SUPER IDEAL was steadied away from the heels of PERFECT MATCH which was taken out by DRAGON BOY. Also shortly after the start, KIMBERLEY was steadied away from the heels of FABULOUS START which shifted in. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, KIMBERLEY was again steadied when crowded for room between ESPACE D’OR which shifted out and SPEEDY TYCOON which shifted in slightly. After the 1200 Metres, SMART CODE was left racing wide and without cover. In the early part of the Straight, SUPER IDEAL hung in and was reluctant to shift to the outside of runners. Close to the line, ESPACE D’OR was steadied away from the heels of SPEEDY TYCOON which shifted in after being bumped by SUPER IDEAL (Apprentice M Chadwick) which itself shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMART CODE. Apprentice Chadwick was advised to exercise greater care. A veterinary inspection of SMART CODE after the race did not show any significant findings, however the Veterinary Officer reported that the horse was unable to be scoped. A veterinary inspection of SUPER IDEAL after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. DRAGON BOY and AIPODER IMAGE were sent for sampling.
