Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, BLAZE STAMINA failed to show speed and subsequently became detached from the field. BLAZE STAMINA then finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of BLAZE STAMINA immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg. The performance of BLAZE STAMINA was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BLAZE STAMINA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O Bosson (GRACE HEART) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of LAMAROSA, resulting in that horse being taken in across the rightful running of SILVER SPUN which was checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled. Further, he permitted his mount to continue to shift in near the 950 Metres, resulting in LAMAROSA having to be checked away from the heels of GRACE HEART. THE SUPREME, which was following SILVER SPUN, was inconvenienced in consequence. O Bosson was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 20 November 2016 and to expire on Thursday, 24 November 2016 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In the circumstances, the Stewards did not believe that it was appropriate for a monetary penalty to be imposed. Passing the 900 Metres, RAGING BULL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WONDERFUL JOURNEY. Approaching the 600 Metres, RAGING BULL was awkwardly placed outside the heels of RAINBOW FIGHTER. Passing the 300 Metres, TRAVEL SUCCESSOR was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHEVALIER STAR (S Clipperton). For some distance after this, TRAVEL SUCCESSOR continued to race in restricted room inside CHEVALIER STAR and passing the 200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of that horse which shifted in. S Clipperton was reprimanded and reminded of his obligation to keep his mounts on a straight course. After the 200 Metres, PENANG HALL was checked when disappointed for running between GRACE HEART and CHEVALIER STAR. After this, PENANG HALL was unable to obtain clear running behind those horses and consequently was not able to be tested. At the 50 Metres, WONDERFUL JOURNEY, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded for room between RAINBOW FIGHTER and THE SUPREME which at this time was attempting to obtain clear running to the outside of SILVER SPUN (K Teetan) which shifted out under pressure. In this incident, THE SUPREME was steadied and shifted to the inside of SILVER SPUN. SILVER SPUN lost its right hind plate during this incident. Although the Stewards were satisfied that THE SUPREME had not established rightful running to the outside of SILVER SPUN, K Teetan was reprimanded and reminded of his obligation to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Throughout the race, WONDERFUL JOURNEY travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CHEVALIER STAR had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL SUCCESSOR and WONDERFUL JOURNEY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. WONDERFUL JOURNEY, LAMAROSA and CHOICE TREASURE were sent for sampling. <31/10/2016 Additional Veterinary Report>After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CHEVALIER STAR had bled from both nostrils. CHEVALIER STAR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CHEVALIER STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
