HAPPY GOLF (H056): When questioned, Z Purton stated that his mount was fractious in the barriers and as the start was effected jumped awkwardly and as a result lost ground. He said consequently HAPPY GOLF settled further back in the field than he had anticipated. He added that on straightening he directed his mount to the inside and commenced to ride HAPPY GOLF along. He adder approaching the 200 Metres he was unable to shift to the outside as he felt that HAPPY DAY had secured a run to the outside of SPICY SO SMART and when SPICY SO SMART was giving ground, he then became held up behind CHAMPION INSTINCT and did not obtain clear running until near the 150 Metres when he shifted back to the inside of that runner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAPPY DAY (G119): Sent for sampling post-race.
MEGA BONUS (E184): No report.
YOUNG LIFE FOREVER (G308): Over the final 250 Metres lay in under pressure. Sent for sampling post-race.
HERO STAR (D033): No report.
RED MAVERICK (J067): Jumped awkwardly and then was bumped a short distance later.
SO TREASURE (H351): No report.
CHAMPION INSTINCT (H012): No report.
LUCKY PLANET (H235): Jumped awkwardly and then from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Lay in in the Home Straight under pressure. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
DIAMOND DIAMOND (H189): No report.
SUPER EAGLE (G408): Jumped only fairly and then after travelling a short distance was crowded. Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied when crowded between LUCKY PLANET and DIAMOND DIAMOND which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out. When questioned, A Atzeni stated that his mount, which was racing in ear plugs for the first time, settled back in the field, but did not travel strongly during the event. He said on straightening he elected to shift in slightly to avoid his mount losing momentum and after briefly held up behind HAPPY GOLF near the 200 Metres, he was able to secure clear running to that runner’s outside whereby his mount worked to the line reasonably well. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SPICY SO SMART (G203): After the race, A Hamelin reported that his mount did not appreciate the step-up in grade to Class 4 for tonight’s event. Trainer P C Ng stated that following its last start he gave SPICY SO SMART some light work after it had pulled up well following its last start win. He added he agreed with the explanation of A Hamelin that SPICY SO SMART was not suited by racing up in Class 4. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance was considered to be disappointing as compared to its last start. Before being allowed to race again, SPICY SO SMART will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
