GRATEFUL HEART (D278): Sent for sampling post-race. CALIFORNIA DEEPLY (G451): As the start was effected became fractious and as a result was slow to begin. Over the concluding stages, when commencing to finish the race off well, improved into a tight run to the inside of E UNIVERSE when that runner was commencing to give ground and shift in and as a result could not be fully ridden out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. EXPLOSIVE WITNESS (B001): When questioned, J McDonald stated that the intention was to hold a midfield position on the horse, but EXPLOSIVE WITNESS commenced well tonight and established a forward position soon after the start. He said his intention was to shift in and race to the outside of E UNIVERSE, however, when HEROIC MASTER, which had drawn barrier 1, shifted to a one-off position, he was then obliged to race wide and without cover. He added that near the 800 Metres he endeavoured to restrain EXPLOSIVE WITNESS to obtain cover behind HEROIC MASTER, but when his mount commenced to race keenly and would not respond to his efforts to come back, he was obliged to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the event. HEROIC MASTER (G394): Sent for sampling post-race. HUMBLE STAR (H125): Approaching the 900 Metres raced tight to the inside of GRATEFUL HEART. Sent for sampling post-race. JOLLY RULER (E346): No report. YOUTH POWER (H358): Slow to begin. E UNIVERSE (H151): Over the concluding stages was unable to be ridden out to the finish when being corrected by its rider M L Yeung due to it shifting in and crowding the running of CALIFORNIA DEEPLY.
