GOLDEN LONG (H462): Jumped only fairly and then shortly after the start was steadied away from TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR which shifted out. Near the 1000 Metres was steadied. After the race, M Chadwick stated that after striking interference near the 1000 Metres his mount, once balanced, found the line only fairly, but he was not too disappointed with the performance of the horse given that it was having its second race start tonight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER AXIOM (E105): No report. KING ECCELLENTE (G264): Near the 1000 Metres was crowded. Briefly crowded near the 100 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race. TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (H430): Bumped shortly after the start. Near the 1000 Metres was checked and taken wider. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BEAUTY INFINITY (H377): Near the 1000 Metres was steadied. Near the 100 Metres shifted in before being corrected by its rider A Atzeni. Sent for sampling post-race. HAPPY FEELING (H443): Jumped only fairly. SPICY SO SMART (G203): When questioned, H Bentley stated that he felt his saddle slipped back slightly as the start was effected and near the 1000 Metres SPICY SO SMART commenced to buck, became badly unbalanced and was eased out of the event. As SPICY SO SMART has offended previously in a similar manner, Trainer P C Ng was advised that it will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of consecutive barrier trials utilising raceday gear and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. He was further advised that SPICY SO SMART must be ridden by a senior jockey. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <5/1/2024 Additional Veterinary Reports> SPICY SO SMART, which commenced to buck near the 1000 Metres, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. SPICY SO SMART was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P C Ng this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. As previously advised, SPICY SO SMART will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of consecutive barrier trials utilising raceday gear and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again. ACE TALENT (H046): Near the 1000 Metres was checked. Hung out on the Home Turn and near the 300 Metres was steadied away from GOLDEN LONG. Continued to hang out in the Home Straight. The performance of ACE TALENT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ACE TALENT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. LADY BILLIE (H365): Withdrawn on 2.1.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, LADY BILLIE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
