SUPER GOLDI (H477): Raced keenly in the middle stages. When questioned regarding his riding, K C Leung stated that his instructions were to find a position with cover just behind midfield. He said when his mount jumped awkwardly and lost ground, SUPER GOLDI settled further back than what it had been anticipated. He added from the 500 Metres he contemplated shifting to the outside of JOYFUL SUPREME but was reluctant to do to as he felt the racing pattern today had advantaged horses making their run to the inside and further as JOYFUL SUPREME was not improving into the race, he would have had to restrain his mount to get to the outside of that runner. He added as a result he elected to continue to improve to the inside of JOYFUL SUPREME where he initially followed PACKING BRILLIANT into the Home Straight. He said after shifting to the outside of PACKING BRILLIANT near the 300 Metres, he then became badly held up behind GREAT SPIRIT and could not ride his mount out until he obtained a narrow run between GREAT SPIRIT and EXCELLENT DADDY near the 100 Metres whereby his mount finished the race off well. After considering his explanations, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Leung were reasonable in the circumstances. CHAMPION INSTINCT (H012): Sent for sampling post-race. SETANTA (G095): No report. JOLLY COMPANION (H454): After the race, C L Chau reported that his mount travelled satisfactorily in a handy position but did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. EXCELLENT DADDY (E321): No report. GREAT SPIRIT (J155): Jumped only fairly. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. GIANT LEAP (J143): Jumped only fairly and was then crowded shortly after the start. Near the 1150 Metres was steadied when crowded between SETANTA and PACKING BRILLIANT, both of which shifted ground slightly. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. JOYFUL SUPREME (H372): Bumped shortly after the start. In the middle stages raced keenly and lay out. PACKING BRILLIANT (H421): No report. SUPER GLORY (J025): A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. AWESOME TREASURE (E435): Sent for sampling post-race. NEW POWER (H325): From the 400 Metres to passing the 200 Metres was held up for clear running.
