OWNERS’ STAR was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, LEATHER MASTER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. SUPERB DADDY (K Teetan) was unable to improve its position from the 600 Metres when held up before being shifted to the outside of MIGHTY STAR near the 500 Metres to obtain clear running. After the race, K Teetan explained that his mount was not suited by the slow early pace of today’s race. A veterinary inspection of SUPERB DADDY immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in its trachea and also found the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. MIGHTY STAR raced wide and without cover throughout the race. After the race, H Bowman (LOYAL AMBITION) explained that he was instructed to ride his mount where comfortable, however, was not suited by the slow early pace of the race. Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued. A veterinary inspection of LOYAL AMBITION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SPLENDID STAR and JOYFUL CHAMPION were sent for sampling.

HAPPY FOR ALL, STRIVE FOR GLORY and YEE CHEONG SPIRIT were slow to begin. ALWAYS AWESOME jumped only fairly. A short distance after the start, MULTIDARLING was bumped and got unbalanced by REGENT GLORY which shifted in and away from THE GOOD DEAL. In this incident, STRIVE FOR GLORY was also steadied. ALWAYS AWESOME was unable to improve its position after passing the 500 Metres and raced in restricted room for some distance before being put under pressure near the 300 Metres. TRAVEL GOLF was held up passing the 400 Metres and continued to be held up until being put under pressure near the 200 Metres. REGENT GLORY was also held up after passing the 400 Metres and failed to obtain clear running from that point. Then near the 50 Metres, REGENT GLORY was checked to avoid causing interference to DIAMOND FLARE and at the same time avoid the heels of SWEET DIAMOND and subsequently was not fully tested over the concluding stages. After the race, A Badel (SAVVY DELIGHT) was of the view that the horse would derive benefit from its first up run today. A veterinary inspection of SAVVY DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Also after the race, Z Purton (RUBY SAILING) could offer no excuse for his mount’s performance today. RUBY SAILING, SPARKLING DOLPHIN and STRIVE FOR GLORY were sent for sampling.

GALAXY PATCH was slow to begin and then over-raced in the early and middle stages. WINDICATOR FAMILY jumped awkwardly. Rounding the Home Turn near the 500 Metres, CALL ME DANDY endeavoured to shift out to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped with NORTHERN BEACHES, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. On straightening, ARMOUR EAGLE was held up for clear running until approaching the 200 Metres when it was then able to be put under pressure. GALAXY PATCH was held up for clear running after passing the 400 Metres before shifting to the outside of NABOO LEGEND approaching the 200 Metres to obtain clear running. The performance of SAKEWIN was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SAKEWIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial in Hong Kong and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SAKEWIN immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. L Ferraris (WINDICATOR FAMILY) was warned for using his whip on his mount when it was out of contention. After the race, both A Atzeni (BEAUTY CRESCENT) and Z Purton (NABOO LEGEND) could offer no explanation for their mounts’ disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY CRESCENT and NABOO LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Also after the race, CALL ME DANDY was found to have blood in its mouth. CALL ME DANDY, GALAXY PATCH and NORTHERN BEACHES were sent for sampling.

BEAUTY UNITY jumped awkwardly and as a result its rider, K C Leung, lost the use of his left iron before regaining it near the 1000 Metres. In this incident, BEAUTY UNITY lost a significant amount of ground. DUBLIN STAR was slow to begin. NOBLE ONE over-raced in the early and middle stages and made the turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly. Passing the 700 Metres, SIGHT HERO hung out and for some distance was then awkwardly placed inside the heels of NISHIKADO. After passing the 300 Metres, SIGHT HERO had some difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200 Metres. LADY’S CHOICE raced wide and without cover throughout the race. A veterinary inspection of SIGHT HERO immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY UNITY and SIMPLY MAVERICK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. KA YING CHEER and LADY’S CHOICE were sent for sampling.

Shortly after the start, SUPER WINNER shifted in and brushed PULSAR STRIDER which became unbalanced. Also shortly after the start, MAGNIAC became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by MODULECONSTRUCTION which shifted out slightly. CALIFORNIA CIBLE (M F Poon) became unbalanced on jumping after being bumped by COMPASSION SPIRIT which shifted out. M F Poon reported that as a result of this incident he made the decision to ride his mount back in the field from the wide barrier. Near the 1100 Metres, PULSAR STRIDER was momentarily awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of SUPER WINNER. FRANTANCK commenced to over-race after passing the 1000 Metres and then raced wide and without cover from the 900 Metres. After the race, it was noted that MAGNIAC had lost its right hind plate. A veterinary inspection of COMPASSION SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MODULECONSTRUCTION and DRAGON’S LUCK were sent for sampling.

SERANGOON was slow to begin. FOREVER FOLKS was also slow to begin and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From wide barriers, PROSECCO and AESTHETICISM were also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 400 Metres, PRESIDENT’S CHOICE was held up for clear running until after passing the 300 Metres and again over the concluding stages, when held up, shifted out and bumped with LUCKY ETERNITY. After passing the 400 Metres, LUCKY ETERNITY was held up for clear running before shifting out passing the 200 Metres and was again held up over the concluding stages. AESTHETICISM lay in under pressure over the concluding stages and in doing so momentarily tightened the running of PROSECCO approaching the winning post. LOOKING COOL raced wide and without cover throughout the race. After the race, L Ferraris (SMILING COLLECTOR) reported that his mount was not suited when the pace slackened mid-race. A veterinary inspection of SMILING COLLECTOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SUPER HONG KONG immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY ETERNITY, CHANCHENG GLORY and AESTHETICISM were sent for sampling.

HAVA NAGEELA was unable to improve its position from the 500 Metres when held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres. PRIME MINISTER was held up for a short distance in the early part of the Home Straight. SPIRITED EXPRESS raced wide and without cover throughout the race. After the race, M Chadwick (ALL FOR ST PAUL’S) reported that his mount was not suited when being challenged for the lead in the early and middle stages by MEANINGFUL STAR. A veterinary inspection of ALL FOR ST PAUL’S immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of TURIN REDSUN immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TURIN REDSUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPER SUNNY SING and SPIRITED EXPRESS were sent for sampling.

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that BEATO had blood in its mouth. BEATO was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. KARMA and PERFETTO were slow to begin. CAPTAIN HURRICANE and LUCKY PLANET jumped awkwardly and then bumped together. Near the 1200 Metres, PERFETTO was eased to avoid the heels of KARMA which, whilst shifting in, was also taken in by DIVINE ERA (K C Leung) before that horse was straightened. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care. Near the 1000 Metres, DIVINE ERA, which was pulling hard, shifted out abruptly, hampering GOLDEN BULL by forcing that horse wider. DIVINE ERA then raced wide and without cover from the 900 Metres. The Stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of DIVINE ERA were the main contributor to this particular incident, therefore no further action was taken. Passing the 150 Metres, BEATO, which was making ground, had some difficulty obtaining clear running when racing in restricted room between DIVINE ERA and GOLDEN BULL. After the race, H Bentley (HOLY LAKE) reported that from a wide barrier he was obliged to ride his mount back in the field, however, at no stage during the event did it travel comfortably. A veterinary inspection of HOLY LAKE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY PLANET and BAEBAE TSOI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. EVER BLESSING, KARMA and ARIEL were sent for sampling.

As C L Chau was unable to fulfil the engagement on I CAN due to being overweight, K Teetan was substituted as the rider of that horse. C L Chau was fined the sum of $5,000. After being loaded into the barriers, I CAN became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, I CAN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. LET’S DO IT was slow to begin. From wide barriers, COMET SPLENDIDO and LUCKY GOLD were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After passing the 500 Metres, BLUE MARLIN (H Bentley) shifted out from behind MAJESTIC COLOUR to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with I CAN, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced and being forced wider. H Bentley was severely reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he needs to show more care when endeavouring to put his mounts into clear running. Over the concluding stages, LET’S DO IT was shifted in abruptly when making ground to avoid the heels of OUTGATE. HYPER DRAGON BALL lay in under pressure in the Home Straight. I CAN raced wide and without cover throughout the race. After the race, both H Bowman (MAJESTIC COLOUR) and Z Purton (HYPER DRAGON BALL) could offer no explanation for their mounts’ performance. A veterinary inspection of MAJESTIC COLOUR and HYPER DRAGON BALL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Also after the race, B Avdulla (CIRCUIT MIGHTY) explained that he was obliged to settle his mount further back than he had intended in an effort to gain cover, however, CIRCUIT MIGHTY did not travel comfortably in the middle stages before making ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT MIGHTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of I CAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BLUE MARLIN and OUTGATE were sent for sampling.
