THE GOODIES and SICHUAN HERO were slow to begin. In the early stages, INFINITE DELIGHT was taken back. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, BULLISH WIN was left racing wide and without cover. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, LIVERBIRD was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of INFINITE DELIGHT. From the 350 Metres until after the 100 Metres, SAFETY FIRST was held up and unable to improve inside SUPER CHARGE which was giving ground. As a consequence of this, SAFETY FIRST was not tested in the Straight. After the 200 Metres, ANKH MORPORK was shifted wider to continue going forward. The performance of GENIUS MASTER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GENIUS MASTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of SUPER CHARGE, G Mossé said from a wide barrier he was able to work across and reach the lead prior to making the first turn. He said SUPER CHARGE ran the race at a tempo to suit, however, after straightening failed to respond to his riding. He was not able to offer any explanation. SUPER CHARGE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER CHARGE after the race did not show any significant findings. ICHIBAN and ROCKET FORCE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported GENIUS MASTER had sustained an abrasion wound to its left hind cannon.
