Just prior to the start being effected, PRINCE OF SUNSHINE became fractious and turned its head to the left as the start was then effected and was consequently slow to begin. Despite being ridden along after this, PRINCE OF SUNSHINE failed to muster speed. Also just prior to the start being effected, TOM’S EIGHTH became fractious and got its head down. TOM’S EIGHTH was consequently slow to begin. From a wide barrier, GLOBAL FAME was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early stages, when being steadied to be taken across behind runners from a wide barrier, AMBASSADORSHIP proved very difficult to settle. When being steadied in the early and middle stages, GLACIER BLUE proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. Near the 850 Metres, CLEMENT SPIRIT, which was travelling keenly, was steadied after improving to be racing inside the heels of EMPIRE CITY where there was insufficient room. Near the 500 Metres, LUFFY became unbalanced after being bumped by HECO RIDER which shifted out to obtain clear running. A veterinary inspection of APOLLO CAVALIER and TOM’S EIGHTH after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of PRINCE OF SUNSHINE including an endoscopic examination after the race showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PRINCE OF SUNSHINE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GLACIER BLUE, HECO RIDER and GLOBAL FAME were sent for sampling.
