On arrival at the barriers, it was noted that both ROMANISED and KA YING STAR had blood at the mouth. ROMANISED and KA YING STAR were examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be suitable to race. ROMANISED stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost a considerable amount of ground. MIGHTY GIANT began only fairly. SOUTHERN LEGEND, GOLDEN SIXTY and SIMPLY BRILLIANT were all steadied to obtain cover shortly after the start. Approaching the 1200 Metres, SIMPLY BRILLIANT got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover behind GOLDEN SIXTY. After the 1000 Metres, ORDER OF AUSTRALIA lay in and bumped the running rail. Rounding the Home Turn, GOLDEN SIXTY raced tight outside SOUTHERN LEGEND which improved into tight running outside WAIKUKU. Approaching the 300 Metres, KA YING STAR was brushed by ORDER OF AUSTRALIA which raced tight inside ADMIRE MARS after improving into restricted room inside that horse. After the race, C Schofield reported that after being challenged in the lead by ADMIRE MARS, KA YING STAR came under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of KA YING STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GOLDEN SIXTY and SOUTHERN LEGEND were sent for sampling.
