Whilst in the saddling stalls, ACE TALENT had its right hind plate readjusted. ACE TALENT was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Whilst in the barriers, SPICY SO SMART lowered its head and as a result became caught underneath the front gates and then became fractious, resulting in SPICY SO SMART making heavy contact with the front gates. SPICY SO SMART was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that the horse was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, SPICY SO SMART was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, SPICY SO SMART will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. H Z TOURBILLON was slow to begin. AMAZING TRAVIS began only fairly. Shortly after the start, FLYING SWORD shifted in and made contact with LORIZ. FLYING SWORD was then shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier. From a wide barrier, SUPER DOBBIN was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. LUCKY GOLD was obliged to race wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres. Approaching the 100 Metres, FLYING SWORD, which was commencing to make ground, was shifted to the inside of ACE TALENT to continue into clear running. A veterinary inspection of H Z TOURBILLON and LORIZ immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A AMERIC TE SPECSO and HAPPY TRIO were sent for sampling.
