FRANTANCK (H429): When questioned, L Hewitson stated that his instructions were to lead the event, but he was advised not to excessively restrain the horse as it has a respiratory condition and has been reported as a "roarer”. He said after leading the event in the early stages, near the 1600 Metres FRANTANCK raced keenly and lay in which resulted in it making contact with the running rail near the 1200 Metres. He said whilst he was aware he was setting a fast pace, having regard to his instructions not to excessively restrain his mount, FRANTANCK set a faster pace than he would have liked despite his best endeavours to restrain his mount in accordance with his instructions. He added that as a result of the manner in which FRANTANCK raced throughout the early and middle stages it gave ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer’ which had previously been reported.
STELLAR GRANDE (J189): Crowded shortly after start. In the Home Straight lay in.
