On April 7th, a turf trial at Conghua over 1000m saw the horse break slowly but maintain a forward position throughout. Four weeks ago, in a Happy Valley sprint, it showed good form, tracking the pace and making a mid-race move to finish third, beaten by one and a half lengths – a respectable performance. A subsequent trial was satisfactory. This time stepping back to a straight course race with no additional weight, facing similarly timed opponents, and drawing a favorable barrier, the horse is expected to track the leaders. The jockey appears to have some understanding of the horse’s ability, and trainer-jockey communication is strong. Preparations are solid, and a clean break should allow it to compete for a forward position.
