Four weeks ago, this horse ran poorly in a straight course race, settling in a good position tracking the leaders with an even pace but lacking a finishing surge. He finished fifth, beaten three and a half lengths. In a subsequent trial over Happy Valley’s 1200m, he will carry two pounds more weight this time, showing a slower sectional time compared to others. The plan is to settle back in the field for this race, however, his finishing kick wasn't strong enough against rivals. Despite drawing a favorable barrier, the jockey has limited knowledge of the horse’s capabilities and while trainer-jockey relationship is reasonably sound, there doesn’t seem to be a clear strategy.
