SMILING CHAMPION

Ran a strong third in the 1200m Happy Valley barrier trial on 19/9 (3-3-3), but showed a lack of drive in the final section. This is his first run this season; three months ago, he ran in a race with similar conditions and showed good form. He was slow to jump out, settled back, maintaining a steady pace, and gradually recovered ground in the final stages. He has made slight improvements in recent trials. His overall chances are somewhat limited, and his drawn position is not ideal; however, given that he will be running from the back, his finishing kick within this group is strong, and his time figures are acceptable. He does not appear to be a top contender in this race.
