ACCOLADE START (H331): Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
WINNING HEART (H065): No report.
SKY PROPHET (J095): Bumped at the start. Near the 350 Metres was eased when racing tight between WIND SPEEDER and SPEEDY SMARTIE which shifted out to improve.
EVER SMART (J179): After the event H Bentley stated that when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to allow EVER SMART to continue forward to cross runners to his inside to avoid racing wide. He added that in retrospect EVER SMART may not have been suited by leading the event as it races best when able to make up ground from behind runners. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
JOYFUL LIFE (H426): After the event Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages but failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and he could offer no explanation for its disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SPEEDY SMARTIE (H108): Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of B Avdulla, 5th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.
GALLANT GOODY (H434): After the event A Hamelin could offer no excuse in relation to his mount’s disappointing performance.
ALMIGHTY KICK (J254): Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded between SKY PROPHET and ACCOLADE START which shifted in.
DOUBLE SHOW (G250): For a short distance near the 250 Metres raced tight to the inside of JOYFUL LIFE which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Sent for sampling post-race.
FLYING PHANTOM (J086): No report.

ORIENTAL SURPRISE (K028): Lay in in the Home Straight. For a short distance near the 100 Metres was positioned close to the heels of WOOD ON FIRE.

CAMP FIRE (J259): When questioned H Bowman stated that he was given no specific instructions other than to settle his mount where comfortable. He said in the early stages when caught wide he did not ride his mount forward as he felt this would be contrary to his instructions and as a result CAMP FIRE made the first turn wide. He said entering the Back Straight he had expected WOOD ON FIRE to continue forward to lead which would have allowed SONIC BOOM to take up a position one-off and would have afforded CAMP FIRE the opportunity to shift closer to the rail albeit still wide and without cover. He added that when WOOD ON FIRE maintained its position to the outside of SO AWESOME this resulted in CAMP FIRE being obliged to race very wide and without cover. He said when he felt his horse was not travelling well enough to go forward and cross SONIC BOOM he was obliged to race very wide and without cover thereafter. He further stated that from the 500 Metres CAMP FIRE did not respond to his riding and gave ground thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

KINGLY DEMEANOR (H486): Over the concluding stages hung in and proved difficult to ride out. As a result Y L Chung was restricted in his ability to fully test the horse. After the event Y L Chung stated that he was instructed to go forward and lead if possible. He said KINGLY DEMEANOR bounded on jumping and as a result settled further back than had been intended. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAKKA RADIANCE (J105): Near the 50 Metres shifted out and made contact with PERPETUAL POWER. After the event A Atzeni stated that his mount was obliged throughout the early stages to take the field up to the leader which set a fast pace. He said when LUCKY BANNER commenced to give ground near the 600 Metres his mount was then pressured in the lead by ROMANTIC FANTASY and as a result HAKKA RADIANCE finished the race off only fairly when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LUCKY BANNER (G354): When questioned B Thompson stated that he had expected to lead the event from an inside barrier. He said in the early stages as he was aware LUCKY BANNER can race keenly he did not push his mount to hold the lead and LUCKY BANNER was able to show its natural speed to obtain the front. He said in the early stages LUCKY BANNER then commenced to race keenly and made the turn into the Home Straight on the first occasion awkwardly. He added that whilst he was aware LUCKY BANNER was setting a fast pace inside of standard time throughout the early stages the horse would not respond to his efforts to restrain and set a more sustainable pace. He said it was not until near the 1200 Metres that LUCKY BANNER responded to his efforts to come back and having regard to the way it raced in the early stages the horse was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. After considering his explanation and viewing the patrol films the Stewards were satisfied that Jockey Thompson had made his best endeavours to reduce the pace that the horse set in the early stages.
PING HAI COMET (H344): Sent for sampling post-race.

UP WITH CHARM (K139): No report.
THUNDER PRINCE (K017): Shortly after the start raced tight to the inside of O’LINER which shifted in and away from SWEET BRIAR despite the efforts of its rider. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 350 Metres raced tight to the inside of ISLAND BUDDY when that runner shifted in and away from ALWAYS MY FOLKS. When questioned regarding his riding in the early part of the Home Straight H Bowman stated that THUNDER PRINCE commenced to run on strongly after straightening. He said his initial intention was to improve between O’LINER and GENIUS BABY, however, when he observed GENIUS BABY commence to shift out he was of the opinion that run would close and as his mount was travelling strongly he elected to immediately shift to the outside of O’LINER with a view to following BITS SUPERSTAR into the race. He said after being steadied and shifted to the outside of O’LINER he was unable to continue out as he had ISLAND BUDDY positioned to his outside which resulted in THUNDER PRINCE being held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres after which it finished the race off well when improving to the inside of BITS SUPERSTAR. After considering his explanation the Stewards were satisfied that the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman in the Home Straight were reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race.
