K Teetan (WONDERFUL TIGER) was fined $2,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring by the required time. On arrival at the Start, J Moreira (LUCKY SHINY DAY) informed the Veterinary Officer that the horse had shaken its head on a number of occasions when proceeding to the barriers. The Veterinary Officer reported that after inspecting LUCKY SHINY DAY and after consulting with Jockey Moreira, the horse was found to be suitable to race. ROCKAGE began awkwardly and lost ground. CALLING THE SHOTS shifted in at the start and hampered DOCTORS DELIGHT. From wide barriers, VIRTUS STAR and THE JOY OF GIVING were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. LUCKY SHINY DAY was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Passing the 1400 Metres, SUNNY MAJOR was steadied away from the heels of LITTLE ISLAND (C Schofield) which shifted in when not quite clear. C Schofield was advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 1300 Metres, LITTLE ISLAND was left racing wide and without cover and was allowed to improve its position approaching and passing the 1000 Metres. After the 1200 Metres, DOCTORS DELIGHT was momentarily awkwardly placed between MUTUAL JOY and LITTLE ISLAND. For some distance approaching and passing the 800 Metres, MUTUAL JOY and CALLING THE SHOTS raced in restricted room inside LITTLE ISLAND (C Schofield) which, after improving forward of CALLING THE SHOTS, shifted in. Then near the 600 Metres, CALLING THE SHOTS was steadied away from the heels of LITTLE ISLAND. In this incident, CALLING THE SHOTS bumped the hindquarters of MUTUAL JOY. In the circumstances, C Schofield was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he either leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside or ensures he is properly clear when shifting ground. Near the 650 Metres, DOCTORS DELIGHT was left racing wide and without cover and then near the 500 Metres was taken wider by CALLING THE SHOTS which shifted to the outside of LITTLE ISLAND. At the entrance to the Straight, MUTUAL JOY was shifted out away from the heels of LET’S COME BACK. After the 300 Metres, ROCKAGE was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running. In the Straight, WONDERFUL TIGER lay in under pressure. A veterinary inspection of LET’S COME BACK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. LUCKY SHINY DAY, WONDERFUL TIGER and CALLING THE SHOTS were sent for sampling.

A Domeyer (ROYAL CHOCOLATE) was fined $2,000 for presenting himself to weight out for this race in the incorrect colours. After being loaded into the barriers, BLISSFUL EIGHT reared on a number of occasions and subsequently finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of BLISSFUL EIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. Both the barrier manners and performance of BLISSFUL EIGHT were considered unacceptable. As this was the third occasion in recent race starts that the horse had finished tailed out, the Stewards ruled that BLISSFUL EIGHT must undertake a series of consecutive satisfactory barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination prior to being permitted to race again. As the start was effected, WHISTLE UP lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently began only fairly. AFTER ME shifted out at the start and hampered LA BOMBA which began only fairly. From a wide barrier, CARRY TO WIN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 800 Metres, SUPER FUN was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, WHISTLE UP became unbalanced when racing tight inside EXPONENTS. After this, WHISTLE UP continued to race tight inside EXPONENTS which got its head on the side and lay in away from SUPER FUN. Approaching the 100 Metres, SUPER FUN, which was giving ground, momentarily raced in restricted room between EXPONENTS and RAICHU. When questioned, Mr P F Yiu, the trainer of AFTER ME, stated that the horse was only having its third start for his stable tonight. He said at its last start over 1200 Metres at Happy Valley, the horse drew barrier 9 and he felt that too much use of the horse would have to be made to obtain a forward position and therefore he instructed the rider to steady AFTER ME in the early stages and obtain inside runs if possible. He said when AFTER ME drew barrier 1 for this event, he felt that the horse would show sufficient speed to be able to take advantage of the inside barrier and accordingly he instructed the jockey to be positive on AFTER ME and take up as forward a positon as possible. A veterinary inspection of WHISTLE UP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. AFTER ME and LA BOMBA were sent for sampling. <24/10/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that CARRY TO WIN was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, CARRY TO WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

At declaration time, H T Mo was declared as the rider of both CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE and MULTIMAX. It was established that H T Mo had a firm commitment to ride CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE. As such, the Stewards permitted H N Wong to be substituted as the rider of MULTIMAX. For this declaration error, H T Mo was fined $2,000. SOCKET ELITE shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE which became unbalanced. MULTIMAX began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, AMAZING SATCHMO shifted in and bumped THE FULL BLOOM. CHIU CHOW KID was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Also from the outside barriers, SPEEDY WALLY and PLAY WISE were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, ENJOY LIFE was crowded for room between CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE and SOCKET ELITE which shifted in after becoming unbalanced as a result of making contact with MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE. Near the 1000 Metres, THOU SHALL SING became badly unbalanced of its own accord after shifting out towards the heels of MULTIMAX which was racing to the outside of CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE. When THOU SHALL SING lost ground, THE FULL BLOOM was checked away from the heels of that horse with AMAZING SATCHMO becoming awkwardly placed behind THE FULL BLOOM and losing ground as a consequence. Passing the 700 Metres, RIGHT HONOURABLE was shifted out away from the heels of SOCKET ELITE which was shifted to the outside of MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE. When RIGHT HONOURABLE shifted out, PLAY WISE was taken wider. Near the 650 Metres, SOCKET ELITE was steadied when unable to improve between SPEEDY WALLY and MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE which shifted to the outside of MULTIMAX. Approaching the 600 Metres, MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE improved into tight running between MULTIMAX and SPEEDY WALLY (Z Purton) which was improving to the outside of MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE. This resulted in MULTIMAX, MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE, which was racing marginally behind that horse, and SPEEDY WALLY racing tight near the 600 Metres. Then making the turn just passing the 600 Metres, THOU SHALL SING got its head on the side and shifted out marginally to race tight inside the hindquarters of MULTIMAX. MULTIMAX then became unbalanced after being contacted on the hindquarters by MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE which continued to race tight between that horse and SPEEDY WALLY. As a result of MULTIMAX becoming unbalanced and shifting in and THOU SHALL SING laying out towards the heels of MULTIMAX, THOU SHALL SING was severely checked near the 550 Metres and lost a considerable amount of ground. When THOU SHALL SING was checked, THE FULL BLOOM was severely checked away from the heels of that horse and AMAZING SATCHMO, which was racing to the outside of THOU SHALL SING, was checked when crowded for room between that horse and SOCKET ELITE. Although the incident was one of significance, the Stewards found that there was no careless riding attributable to any rider such that a charge of careless riding should be issued. The Stewards found that in the initial stages THOU SHALL SING had contributed to the incident by shifting out towards the heels of MULTIMAX and that the movement inwards by that horse as a result of being brushed by MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE had created the incident. Nonetheless Z Purton was told that he must ensure that in similar circumstances runners to his inside have comfortable racing room. Near the 450 Metres, MULTIMAX got its head on the side and lay out towards the heels of MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE when giving ground. In the Straight, SPEEDY WALLY got its head on the side and lay in under pressure and near the 50 Metres was momentarily awkwardly placed behind RIGHT HONOURABLE which shifted out away from ENJOY LIFE. In this incident, AMAZING SATCHMO raced tight to the outside of SPEEDY WALLY and consequently was not able to be fully tested over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance of MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE, J Moreira stated that it was intended for MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE to be ridden in about midfield as the horse was stepping up to 1650 Metres for the first time tonight. He said MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE began very well and he believed that he would have to restrain the horse heavily to obtain a trailing position in midfield. He said he therefore elected to allow MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE to obtain a forward position behind the leaders which was more prominent than had been intended. He said when the tempo of the race was only fair in the early and middle stages MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE raced too keenly and would not relax. He said this resulted in MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE racing close to the heels of MULTIMAX passing the 1100 Metres. He added he had to ride MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE along sooner than what he had hoped when the tempo of the race increased noticeably near the 650 Metres. He added MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened in the Straight and he thought that due to the horse not relaxing in the first half of the race, MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE was then not able to close off at its first start at the distance. A veterinary inspection of MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned regarding the improved performance of RIGHT HONOURABLE tonight as compared to its most recent start, Trainer R Gibson stated that at its last start he was of the opinion that the race lacked speed and therefore, from the outside barrier, he asked the rider that night to obtain a more forward position to take advantage of the anticipated lack of speed. He said in the early stages RIGHT HONOURABLE was unable to clear runners to its inside as there were a number of horses which also went forward in the race and this resulted in RIGHT HONOURABLE having to race very wide making the turn near the 1300 Metres. N Callan, the rider of RIGHT HONOURABLE on that occasion, confirmed that he was asked to take up a more forward position on the horse than is usual due to the anticipated lack of speed. He said however that when a number of other runners also went forward which were better drawn than RIGHT HONOURABLE, this resulted in his mount having to race wide until being able to shift in to race one horse away from the rail after the 1200 Metres. Mr Gibson stated that in that race there ultimately proved to be more pace than had been foreseen and because of RIGHT HONOURABLE having to be made use of to go forward, the horse was then not able to finish off the race. He added in tonight’s race when again drawn wide, he instructed the rider to ride the horse more conservatively as he felt that, given the horse’s disappointing last start, this would provide RIGHT HONOURABLE the best opportunity to finish off the race. He said that the circumstance of its last race start was the reason for the improved performance of the horse tonight. A veterinary inspection of THOU SHALL SING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE, RIGHT HONOURABLE and ENJOY LIFE were sent for sampling.

HAPPY DRAGON shifted out at the start and bumped NOT USUAL TALENT. Shortly after the start, JOYFUL TRINITY shifted out away from NOT USUAL TALENT, resulting in BRAVE LEGEND being bumped and taken out onto HELENE CHARISMA which was also bumped. HELENE CHARISMA, MR SO AND SO and GOOD OMEN were all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, RUTHVEN got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to obtain cover behind HELENE CHARISMA. Rounding the Home Turn, MR SO AND SO was awkwardly placed behind BRAVE LEGEND. In the Straight, HELENE CHARISMA lay in under pressure. When questioned, R Bayliss (RUTHVEN) stated as it was anticipated that there was a lack of speed in the race, he was instructed to attempt to take up a forward position as it did at its last start over 1800 Metres. He added he was instructed that if RUTHVEN did not begin well, he should ride the horse with cover if possible. He said RUTHVEN began awkwardly and became unbalanced after bumping the outside gate of its barrier which resulted in the horse losing ground. He said as RUTHVEN was dropping back in distance to 1650 Metres tonight, he believed that he would have had to make too much use of the horse to then attempt to obtain a forward position, he therefore shifted RUTHVEN across behind runners to obtain cover which resulted in the horse being ridden further back in the field than had been hoped. A veterinary inspection of RUTHVEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL TRINITY immediately following the race revealed the horse to be displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL TRINITY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NOT USUAL TALENT, PLAYA DEL PUENTE and HAPPY DRAGON were sent for sampling.

On arrival at the Start, K Teetan expressed concern regarding the action of ORIENTAL ELITE. A veterinary inspection of ORIENTAL ELITE found that horse to be lame in the left front leg and as such was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, ORIENTAL ELITE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, ORIENTAL ELITE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also on arrival at the Start, it was noted that LITTLE THUNDER had lost its left front plate. After this plate was refitted, LITTLE THUNDER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. LUCKY GUY became fractious as the start was effected and lifted its front feet off the ground, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY GUY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. DR LUCKY STAR began only fairly and was then bumped by GOLDEN GLORY which shifted out. From a wide barrier, IRON BOY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. H T Mo (VERY RICH MAN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1000 Metres he failed to make sufficient endeavours to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of ALL WONGCHOY, causing that horse to be crowded for room and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled and KANBEKI MOLLY, which was racing inside ALL WONGCHOY, to be hampered. When ALL WONGCHOY lost its position, GOLDEN GLORY, which was following, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of that horse. H T Mo was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 6 November 2019 and to expire on Sunday, 10 November 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, H T Mo was fined $10,000. After the 900 Metres, SUNNY DRAGON commenced to travel keenly. Approaching the 600 Metres, GOLDEN GLORY was awkwardly placed behind ALL WONGCHOY. After the 600 Metres, SUNNY DRAGON got its head up on a number of occasions when continuing to prove difficult to settle and racing close to the heels of GOLDEN GLORY. Making the turn near the 550 Metres, LUCKY GUY got its head up when awkwardly placed behind IRON BOY. Near the 550 Metres, KANBEKI MOLLY was momentarily crowded for room inside LITTLE THUNDER which got its head on the side and lay in. Approaching and passing the 50 Metres, SUPREME PLUS became unbalanced when crowded for room inside KANBEKI MOLLY which, after improving into tight running inside NICE FANDANGO, was taken in by that horse as NICE FANDANGO shifted ground marginally when weakening. Because of this, SUPREME PLUS was not able to be ridden out over the concluding stages. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on ALL WONGCHOY at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ALL WONGCHOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY GUY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. ALL WONGCHOY, VERY RICH MAN and IRON BOY were sent for sampling. <24/10/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that DR LUCKY STAR was lame in its right hind leg on the morning after racing.
