01/05/2024  Class 5  Happy Valley  Turf  A  1000m   Going: GOOD TO YIELDING  (2.72)   Rating: 039-020  

DIAMOND SOARS (G201): Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. TACTICAL COMMAND (H197): Slow to begin. Near the 400 Metres was steadied to avoid MULTIMORE when that runner gave ground. Then had some difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance after. KING INVINCIBLE (H199): Bumped shortly the start. When questioned, K C Leung stated that making the first turn his mount lay in slightly. He said approaching the 500 Metres KING INVINCIBLE then hung out which resulted in him having to correct his mount and KING INVINCIBLE shifting wider on the track. A warning was placed on the racing manners of KING INVINCIBLE. Sent for sampling post-race. MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352): After the 700 Meres, when racing keenly, was steadied away from CRAIG’S MASTER which shifted in. Approaching the 400 Metres blundered. Sent for sampling post-race. THE GOOD DEAL (G025): No report. MULTIMORE (D443): Near the 400 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by MODEST GENTLEMAN which shifted in and away from CRAIG’S MASTER when racing tight to the inside of that runner. After the 300 Metres was checked to avoid CRAIG’S MASTER which was giving ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ISLAND SURPRISE (E429): Bumped at the start. Passing the 600 Metres raced tight between DASHING GLORY and SIX BEST FRIENDS and shortly after was bumped by SIX BEST FRIENDS. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CRAIG'S MASTER (G440): Bumped shortly the start. At the 500 Metres was crowded between DIAMOND SOARS and KING INVINCIBLE which hung out. Near the 300 Metres was checked when crowded between DIAMOND SOARS (H Bowman) which shifted in whilst laying in and MODEST GENTLEMAN (C L Chau) which shifted out slightly. Both H Bowman and C L Chau were advised to exercise more care. AUGUST MOON (D409): On arrival at the Start, it was noted that AUGUST MOON had lost its left front plate. This plate was refitted. AUGUST MOON was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. SIX BEST FRIENDS (G205): Jumped awkwardly. Bumped after the 600 Metres. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. HAPPILY FRIENDS (C533): In the early stages raced ungenerously and got its head up. Approaching the 400 Metres was held up for clear running behind ISLAND SURPRISE. DASHING GLORY (G397): No report.

D STAR (G374): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. EXCEL WONGCHOY (J194): Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. The performance of EXCEL WONGCHOY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, EXCEL WONGCHOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. VOLCANIC SPARK (H388): Jumped awkwardly. After the 200 Metres shifted in, resulting in its rider H Bentley having to stop riding and straighten. After the race, H Bentley reported that his intention was to hold a more forward position, but when unable to find cover in the early stages he was obliged to settle further back in order to obtain a position with cover. He added when placed under pressure in the Home Straight VOLCANIC SPARK found it difficult to make up ground from back in the field. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. NOT A FEW (J109): Near the 1400 Metres raced in restricted room between FRUITY WARRIOR and SETANTA. CORDYCEPS ONE (E107): Noted to have lost its left hind plate after the race. Sent for sampling post-race. SETANTA (G095): Bumped shortly after the start. Sent for sampling post-race. ABSOLUTE SUNSHINE (H342): Approaching the 100 Metres C L Chau lost his whip as he changed it through to his right hand. As this was the 4th occasion this season that Jockey Chau had offended, he was fined the sum of $5,000. When questioned, C L Chau stated that the intention was to hold a slightly more forward position, but after his mount commenced only fairly and did not show early pace, he elected to shift it behind runners in the early stages. RUNNING BOY (J041): No report. BRAVE WITNESS (H425): Sent for sampling post-race. FRUITY WARRIOR (J035): No report. DRAGON PRIDE (D164): Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 550 Metres raced tight to the inside of VOLCANIC SPARK. CHEONG FAT (H058): Shifted in at the start and was bumped. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

YEE CHEONG WARRIOR (E025): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the race, Z Purton stated that after settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground from that position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MASTER OF LUCK (G276): Jumped only fairly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Held up on the Home Turn. V LOVE YOU (J048): Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event. The performance of V LOVE YOU, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, V LOVE YOU will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RATTAN WORLD (G384): No report. BIG TWO (E310): In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1400 Metres got its head up when being crossed by DRAGON DELIGHT. Sent for sampling post-race. DRAGON DELIGHT (G395): Sent for sampling post-race. PRESTIGE MOOCHI (H314): Shortly after the start was crowded when bumped by EAGLE RUN which shifted in, resulting in PRESTIGE MOOCHI losing ground. Near the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of DRAGON KINGDOM to continue into clear running. DRAGON KINGDOM (E211): Jumped awkwardly. HAPPIHOOD (H261): No report. MIGHTY STAR (G117): No report. EAGLE RUN (G415): Shifted in at the start and was bumped. After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a consequence gave ground in the Home Straight. MEGA BONUS (E184): When questioned regarding the improved performance of MEGA BONUS, Trainer P F stated that MEGA BONUS was advantaged by being down in grade tonight and being able to race outside the lead in the early and middle stages. Sent for sampling post-race. GOLDEN TITLE (H100): Jumped only fairly. At the 300 Metres was steadied away from THE AZURE. DOUBLE BINGO (J309): Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping. After the race, L Ferraris reported that his mount was able to obtain a handy position in the early stages, but was unable to run on in the Home Straight which he attributed to the early track pattern of tonight’s racing favouring horses that were racing on-pace. Trainer Y S Tsui stated that DOUBLE BINGO had pleased the stable leading into tonight’s event and had galloped well on Saturday, 27 April 2024 when ridden by Jockey Ferraris. He added that DOUBLE BINGO may have been disadvantaged by the "Good to Yielding” track conditions and as the horse is immature, it also resented the kickback during the running of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race. EMBRACES (J276): Sent for sampling post-race. FLYING WROTE (J290): In the early stages lay in, resulting in its rider Apprentice Y L Chung having to stop riding and correct his mount near the 1000 Metres. Then continued to lay in for the remainder of the event, resulting in its rider Apprentice Y L Chung changing his whip through to his right hand approaching the 100 Metres. SUPER SIXTY (J071): Bumped at the 300 Metres when being shifted out to obtain clear running. When questioned, C Y Ho stated that from an inside barrier the intention was to be more forward on his mount, but SUPER SIXTY jumped only fairly and then was crowded between FLYING WROTE and DOUBLE BINGO, both of which shifted ground. He added that throughout the event SUPER SIXTY hung in and in the Home Straight proved reluctant to shift to the outside of DOUBLE BINGO and as a result he was not able to fully test his mount over the final 300 Metres due to the manner in which it was racing. C Y Ho was warned in relation to using his whip forward of the saddle on one occasion. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. THE AZURE (J227): From the 600 Metres raced wide and without cover. At the 300 Metres was bumped and became unbalanced when SUPER SIXTY (C Y Ho) shifted to the outside of DOUBLE BINGO in an attempt to obtain clear running. C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care. HOSS (H055): From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. SUPER EAGLE (G408): No report. KOWLOON EAST STAR (E158): No report. SPEEDY CHARIOT (H193): Approaching the 1000 Metres was crowded when FLYING WROTE shifted in despite the efforts of its rider when racing tight to the inside of SUPER EAGLE. COUNTRY DANCER (H436): Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the left side of its barrier and lost ground. From the outside barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. YOU'REMYEVERYTHING (E413): Leaving the 1000 Metres was taken wider by TATTENHAM. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. EASY SNIP (G211): No report. LYRICAL MOTION (G081): Sent for sampling post-race. DIAMOND FLARE (H224): Sent for sampling post-race. CLEAR COURAGE (J257): Raced keenly in the early stages. GOLDEN LINK (D222): After the race, K C Leung reported that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event and did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SWEET SMILE (J282): Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. MISTER FOX (J059): Jumped only fairly and was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. SHINKANSEN (H277): From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. BEAUTY DESTINY (H281): When questioned regarding the improved performance of BEAUTY DESTINY, Trainer F C Lor stated that, in his opinion, BEAUTY DESTINY was advantaged by its gear changes tonight when he placed a hood and pacifiers on the horse. He added that BEAUTY DESTINY also appreciated racing outside the lead and on a track that was rated "Good to Yielding”. Sent for sampling post-race. TATTENHAM (H121): After being placed in the starting gates reared and got its left front leg momentarily over the partition. Removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, TATTENHAM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Near the 1000 Metres lay in, resulting in its rider K Teetan having to stop riding and correct his mount to prevent it from shifting in. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MAXIMIZE HEART (D311): No report.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. PACKING WISHER (H448): Near the 1400 Metres was crowded between KYEEMA and GALLANT CROWN (K C Leung) which shifted in. K C Leung was reprimanded and advised to ensure he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside. HARRY'S HERO (H332): Jumped awkwardly and was then bumped by KYEEMA. NORTHERN BEAST (H233): Shifted in on jumping and was bumped. Raced wide and without cover until near the 550 Metres where it was allowed to stride forward to race outside the lead. JOYFUL PROSPERITY (H213): Sent for sampling post-race. TO INFINITY (G277): Bumped at the start by NORTHERN BEAST which shifted in. Approaching the 400 Metres became held up for clear running behind KYEEMA and leaving the 400 Metres was steadied when disappointed between HARRY’S HERO and KYEEMA which continued to give ground. WINNING SEVEN (J005): A Atzeni was fined $2,000 for initially presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number. Jumped only fairly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TOP TOP TEA (H048): TOP TOP TEA, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 29.4.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). CELESTIAL COLOURS (H362): After the race, H Bowman stated that his instructions were to endeavour to lead tonight. He said after his mount began only fairly and he observed a number of runners to his inside going forward, he elected to shift his mount across behind runners in the early stages to avoid racing wide. He said as a result CELESTIAL COLOURS raced further back than intended. He added that when crowded to the inside of ASTROLOGER approaching the 400 Metres, his mount lost momentum at that stage and as a result was unable to finish the race off from that point. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ASTROLOGER (G102): No report. BEAUTY INFINITY (H377): Bumped near the 300 Metres when being shifted out. HAPPY UNITED (H208): No report. NEVER TOO SOON (E434): Jumped only fairly and then was bumped by COPARTNER PRANCE a short distance later. Held up on the Home Turn. Sent for sampling post-race. SIMPLY MAVERICK (H346): When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Z Purton stated that his mount obtained a favourable on-pace position, but when placed under pressure did not handle the "Good to Yielding” track conditions. He added that in the Home Straight when he was concerned there may have been something amiss with his mount, he eased it down from the event over the final 200 Metres when not in a competitive position. Trainer P F Yiu advised that SIMPLY MAVERICK had pleased the stable leading into tonight’s event and had raced consistently in this grade. He added he could offer no explanation for tonight’s performance. The performance of SIMPLY MAVERICK was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, SIMPLY MAVERICK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. He said when KAHOLO ANGEL jumped only fairly and did not show pace in the early stages, he elected to shift his mount behind runners to avoid covering additional ground. SOLAR PARTNER (E364): Sent for sampling post-race. ARMOUR EAGLE (G093): After travelling a short distance was eased when crowded between CALIFORNIA TOUCH and HAPPY TRIO which shifted in slightly. After the race, Z Purton reported that his mount did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions.
