On jumping, TREASURABLE blundered badly and almost dislodged Apprentice K T Yeung, its rider. As a consequence, TREASURABLE lost ground. In this incident, TREASURABLE shifted out and bumped PICKETT on its hindquarters. ROCKET POWER began awkwardly, lost ground and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. Throughout the race, SIAMERIC TE SPECSO travelled wide and without cover and making the Home Turn hung out. Near the 300 Metres, BRILLIANT ONE was steadied when awkwardly placed between TAIJI SPIRIT and SIAMERIC TE SPECSO. M W Leung (GO BRITANNIA) said he had been instructed to allow the horse to travel where it was comfortable. He said in the barriers GO BRITANNIA was very fractious and reared, then on jumping blundered badly. He said as a result of this he became unbalanced and his saddle shifted to the left side which placed him at a disadvantage throughout the race. He said in the early stages GO BRITANNIA raced ungenerously and did not appreciate the kickback and because of this approaching the turn at the 700 Metres he shifted his mount wider on the track. He said in the Straight he was not able to ride his mount out because of the manner in which his saddle had shifted. TREASURABLE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TREASURABLE after the race did not show any significant findings. PICKETT, TAIJI SPIRIT and SIAMERIC TE SPECSO were sent for sampling.
