After being boxed, FEVER PITCH became fractious, then began awkwardly and lost ground. After the 1000 Metres, SUPER GENERAL was bumped and carried wider by KING PRAWN SUPREME which was carried out by ROCKET POWER. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SUPER GENERAL and KING PRAWN SUPREME became unbalanced after bumping as a result of KING PRAWN SUPREME being carried wider by EIGHT PLUS NINE which making the turn got its head up and hung out. After this, SUPER GENERAL travelled wide and without cover. In the early part of the Straight, FEVER PITCH hung out. After the 200 Metres, EIGHT PLUS NINE and KING PRAWN SUPREME raced tight. Over the concluding stages, NORDIC STAR, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied when unable to obtain clear running between FLY HIGH and GUNNER MAC. Because of this, NORDIC STAR was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. For the majority of the Home Straight, EVER BEAUTY had difficulty obtaining clear running and close to the line was steadied when awkwardly placed between KING PRAWN SUPREME and CENTURY SUPER STAR. Because of this, EVER BEAUTY was not ridden out to the end of the race. Throughout the race, PLAN B travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding his riding over the final 50 Metres, D Whyte (KING PRAWN SUPREME) explained after the 200 Metres his mount bumped on several occasions with EIGHT PLUS NINE. He said after this KING PRAWN SUPREME became unbalanced in its action and at the 50 Metres appeared to shorten stride. He said because of this he did not ride his mount out of the race as it normally would be. Before being allowed to race again, KING PRAWN SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KING PRAWN SUPREME, SPRING SUN and CENTURY SUPER STAR were sent for sampling.
