FINGERS CROSSED was slow to begin. BOBO WIN began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall, was then ridden along and after the 1600 Metres was steadied away from the heels of FRIENDSHIP. From the outside barriers, BEST POWER and FORTUNE WARRIOR were taken back in the early stages. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, AMAZING CHOISIR was steadied when awkwardly placed between BOBO WIN and ALL OUR WAY which got its head on the side and was hanging in. At the 1300 Metres, ALL OUR WAY was hampered and carried wider by AMAZING CHOISIR which got its head up and shifted out abruptly when being steadied away from the heels of BOBO WIN. At the 700 Metres, BEST POWER was steadied and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMAZING CHOISIR, then making the turn at the 600 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by ALL OUR WAY which for the major part of the race had been hanging in and at this time shifted ground. Near the 500 Metres, FINGERS CROSSED was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMAZING CHOISIR. Prior to straightening, GALACTIC TACTIC became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BOBO WIN. At the 150 Metres, FRIENDSHIP was steadied when crowded for room inside SOLAR (C K Tong) which shifted in while hanging when not properly clear. C K Tong was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Over the concluding stages, SOLAR was brushed by AMAZING CHOISIR which shifted out slightly. For the major part of the race, CALIFORNIA BISHOP travelled wide and without cover. BEST POWER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BEST POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. AMAZING CHOISIR and SOLAR were sent for sampling.
