Z Purton (MEDICO) reported when his mount became fractious in its gates, his saddle shifted to the left hand side. He said shortly after the start he was able to correct this by shifting his weight to the right. AGILITY began awkwardly and was bumped by EYSHAL. As a consequence, AGILITY lost ground. For a considerable distance after the 1600 Metres, EYSHAL and JAMESINA raced tight and bumped on several occasions as JAMESINA which was travelling three wide and without cover attempted to shift in. After entering the Back Straight, JAMESINA was steadied and taken back to a position behind EYSHAL with cover. In the middle stages, WIN PRACTITIONER proved difficult to settle. Approaching the 600 Metres, JAMESINA was carried wider by EYSHAL which shifted to the outside of GALLANT CHAMPION into clear running. After this, EYSHAL raced tight inside JAMESINA which then endeavoured to shift in. Near the 300 Metres, POWER DRIFTER, which was commencing to give ground, was checked when crowded for room inside FEARLESS which was also checked when endeavouring to improve into a run on the inside of GALLANT CHAMPION which got its head on the side and hung in away from EYSHAL. As the Stewards were satisfied FEARLESS had not established rightful running between POWER DRIFTER and GALLANT CHAMPION, no action was taken. JAMESINA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of JAMESINA after the race did not show any significant findings. MEDICO and EYSHAL were sent for sampling.
