Shortly after the start, CLEMENT ELITE and FLYING GALLOP were steadied when crowded for room between FERRO BEAU which shifted out slightly and MAGIC SWEEP which shifted in after beginning awkwardly. Near the 1200 Metres, FERRO BEAU, which was proving difficult to settle, was restrained away from the heels of GOOD GAINS (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not clear. O Doleuze was severely reprimanded and advised that, whilst the Stewards acknowledged that FERRO BEAU was difficult to restrain to his inside, he must ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. For some distance after this, FERRO BEAU continued to over-race. Near the 1000 Metres, FLYING GALLOP was steadied away from the heels of GOOD GAINS which shifted in slightly. Making the first turn, FLYING GALLOP shifted in and bumped BOLD CHAMPION when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOOD GAINS. In the early part of the Straight, CARS KING PRAWN was held up behind AASHIQ. Passing the 400 Metres, GOOD GAINS shifted out, resulting in SUPER GENERAL, MAGIC SWEEP and FERRO BEAU being taken out which caused TELECOM SUPER STAR, which was racing to the outside of FERRO BEAU, to be steadied when crowded for room between that horse and WINNING FELLOWSHIP which was taken wider. O Doleuze was reprimanded and advised to ensure he makes sufficient effort to keep his mounts on a straight course. Over the concluding stages, O Doleuze was obliged to stop riding with his whip due to his mount hanging in towards MASCOT FORTUNE. Just prior to the winning post, CARS KING PRAWN was steadied away from the heels of JOHNSON which shifted in. For the majority of the race, TELECOM SUPER STAR raced wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of AASHIQ after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being permitted to race again, AASHIQ will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FERRO BEAU after the race did not show any significant findings. AASHIQ, JOHNSON and CARS KING PRAWN were sent for sampling.
