From the outside barrier, NUGGET WARRIOR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. GOOD STRIKE, which was slow to begin, was checked shortly after the start when crowded for room between SUPER SPIRIT and BLEDISLOE which began awkwardly, threw its head in the air and shifted in abruptly. Due to the manner in which BLEDISLOE began, the horse lost ground at the start. In the early stages, FUN was ridden along to obtain a forward position, however, failed to muster speed and consequently travelled wide and without cover throughout the race and in the Straight gave ground. MY TIME, which travelled wide in the early and middle stages, was steadied away from the heels of FUN which shifted in slightly near the 500 Metres. Near the 150 Metres, Apprentice M Chadwick (SMART CURRENCY) dropped his right rein. Near the 100 Metres, WELL NOTED was steadied when disappointed for running between CHINA HERO and GOOD STRIKE, both of which shifted ground. A veterinary inspection of FUN after the race did not show any significant findings. GOOD STRIKE and NEW KING PRAWN were sent for sampling.
