IRIAN, which was difficult to load, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before being allowed to race again. Approaching and passing the 1600 Metres, VIGOR DELIGHT got its head up and proved difficult to settle. Rounding the Home Turn, KING DANCER and JAMESINA were forced wider when MR MEDICI was taken out by IRIAN which shifted out to improve its position. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MR MEDICI, Apprentice K C Leung stated that the horse wanted to race a little keenly in the early stages of the race, but after passing the winning post on the first occasion then travelled kindly. He said on the Home Turn he shifted MR MEDICI out to improve, however, in the Straight the horse was disappointing in that it failed to respond to his riding as he thought it would. A veterinary inspection of MR MEDICI after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. FAT CHOY ICHIBAN and KING DANCER were sent for sampling.
