MUSTANG was difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, MUSTANG will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HOME WITH GLORY began awkwardly and lost ground. CARS KING PRAWN was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Also shortly after the start, NEW LEADER was bumped by GREAT RENOWN. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, INDUSTRIAL HERO got its head up when being steadied to allow DYNAMIC CROSS to shift in and in doing so raced ungenerously when checked out across the heels of DYNAMIC CROSS. After this, INDUSTRIAL HERO proved difficult to settle and travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. For some distance after the 1100 Metres, MOON CHASER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREAT RENOWN. After the 200 Metres, NORDIC STAR was crowded for room between BLEDISLOE and INDUSTRIAL HERO, both of which shifted ground. Also after the 200 Metres, KOENIGSBERG was steadied away from the heels of GREAT RENOWN which shifted in away from the heels of DYNAMIC CROSS which itself was awkwardly placed inside the heels of BUMPER STRIKE. Over the concluding stages, HOME WITH GLORY was not able to obtain clear running between BUMPER STRIKE and MOON CHASER which shifted in. Because of this, HOME WITH GLORY was not ridden right out to the end of the race. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GREAT RENOWN, D Whyte stated that his mount did not appreciate tonight’s track conditions. He said he had previously ridden GREAT RENOWN on a similar surface and on that occasion the horse, in his opinion, also had failed to handle the conditions. A veterinary inspection of GREAT RENOWN after the race did not show any significant findings. GREAT RENOWN, MOON CHASER and MUSTANG were sent for sampling.
