STORM UNICORN and FAST FORWARD were slow to begin. Approaching the 1000 Metres, KEEN WONGCHOY, which was endeavouring to obtain a position between REGENCY LUCK and STORM UNICORN, was checked when unable to obtain the position due to STORM UNICORN shifting out when awkwardly placed outside the heels of CLASSIC BOY. Approaching the 700 Metres, BONDI LAD commenced to over-race and was steadied away from the heels of SEA PRINCE which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AEROSA. Also approaching the 700 Metres, KEEN WONGCHOY got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CLASSIC BOY. Near the 250 Metres, SEA PRINCE was steadied when disappointed for running between GOOD LUCK WIN and SMART FORTUNE which shifted out and away from AEROSA which itself shifted out. After this, AEROSA continued to shift ground outwards under pressure. After the race, K C Leung (SMART FORTUNE) stated that he had been instructed to ride the horse quietly, however, SMART FORTUNE began well and took up a forward position without being made use of to do so. He said however that he was not able to obtain cover on SMART FORTUNE and raced wide throughout. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CONNOISSEUR’S PICK had lost its left hind plate. A veterinary inspection of SEA PRINCE after the race did not show any significant findings. KING MOSSMAN and BEAR HERO were sent for sampling.
