SLEEPCARE knuckled over at the start. POLYGOLD was slow to begin and shortly after the start was crowded for room between SLEEPCARE and GORGEOUS LIFE which was taken out by NAMJONG FIGHTERS which shifted ground after beginning awkwardly. Shortly after the start, NICE KING was crowded for room between GOOD JOB and GRANDFIELD which shifted out. After the 1000 Metres, NAMJONG FIGHTERS was left racing wide and without cover. GOOD JOB was held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres. GOOD JOB then raced in restricted room between SLEEPCARE and JUST GOOD after passing the 100 Metres. THE KID was not able to obtain clear running until passing the 200 Metres. GRANDFIELD was badly held up for clear running until after the 200 Metres at which point it had to be checked away from the heels of SLEEPCARE. When questioned, G Mossé advised that he had been instructed to ride STAR OF CHIU TON in a midfield position with cover or slightly worse if possible. He said from barrier 12 it was felt that STAR OF CHIU TON would have to do some work in the early stages to cross runners which often occupy forward positions in their races. After the race, B Prebble reported that COOL CAT did not stretch out in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of COOL CAT after the race did not show any significant findings. THE KID, POLYGOLD and STAR OF CHIU TON were sent for sampling.
