SECRET OF WINNING began awkwardly, then throughout the race travelled three wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. LAGO EXPRESS began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in GREEN EAGLE being taken out onto DANEWIN TIGER. From outside barriers, CITY OF LIGHTS and HEI HEI POSH were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 800 Metres, VITAL SMART got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in LAGO EXPRESS being taken out onto GREEN EAGLE. Also approaching the 800 Metres, SERENDIPITY was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPREME DE UNION. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, LAGO EXPRESS was steadied when crowded for room between VITAL SMART which got its head on the side and shifted out and SUPREME DE UNION. Near the 100 Metres, ASSURE and LAGO EXPRESS bumped. A veterinary inspection of SECRET OF WINNING after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of ASSURE after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ASSURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SECRET OF WINNING, GREEN EAGLE and WISER were sent for sampling.
