At declaration time, G Mossé was declared as the rider of both SUPREME GENKI and FULL VALUE. It was established that G Mossé had a firm commitment to ride SUPREME GENKI. As such, the Stewards permitted O Doleuze to be substituted as the rider of FULL VALUE. For this declaration error, Trainer R Gibson was fined $2,000. SMILING WATCH, which was leaning on the inside of its gate, began awkwardly. FIERY PATROL and CAI BAO IN were slow to begin. From the outside barrier, LUCKY SUPREME was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 1200 Metres, FULL VALUE got its head up and proved very difficult to settle when being steadied to obtain cover behind CLASSIC JEWELLERY. Making the turn near the 900 Metres, EVEN EMAIL was momentarily crowded for room inside FIVE STARS HOTEL which raced greenly throughout. Approaching the 800 Metres, SUPREME GENKI commenced to over-race and shifted out away from the heels of SMILING WATCH. After this, SUPREME GENKI, which continued to prove difficult to settle, was allowed to stride forward. Rounding the Home Turn, FIVE STARS HOTEL got its head on the side and shifted out. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUPREME GENKI had lost its right hind plate and had sustained a small wound to the outside of the right hind fetlock. A veterinary inspection of FIVE STARS HOTEL after the race did not show any significant findings. CLASSIC JEWELLERY and SUPREME GENKI were sent for sampling.
