Apprentice M L Yeung was dislodged from YOU KNOW I WIN during its preliminary. YOU KNOW I WIN galloped riderless up the 1800 Metre chute was recaptured and returned to the Start where an examination of the horse by the Veterinary Officer passed YOU KNOW I WIN as suitable to race. Apprentice Yeung was examined by the Club’s medical officers and passed fit to ride. ANCIENT KINGDOM was difficult to load and then was slow to begin. Before being allowed to race again, ANCIENT KINGDOM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HORSESHOE FORTUNE was crowded for room at the start between ENTHUSING and PERFECT GEAR which shifted out. From wide barriers MASTER GUNNER and OPEN SESAME were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1200 Metres, ANCIENT KINGDOM was momentarily crowded for room inside HORSESHOE FORTUNE. Passing the 900 Metres, ALL FRIENDS, which was travelling keenly, clipped the heels of EIGHT PLUS NINE and blundered. After this, ALL FRIENDS was for some distance checked away from the heels of EIGHT PLUS NINE which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CITY KING. HORSESHOE FORTUNE, which was racing outside of ALL FRIENDS, was hampered in this incident. Near the 700 Metres, OPEN SESAME was steadied away from the heels of HORSESHOE FORTUNE. ALL FRIENDS had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. MASTER GUNNER was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 200 Metres. M Guyon (EIGHT PLUS NINE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of PERFECT GEAR, causing that horse to be taken out onto HORSE APLENTY, resulting in PERFECT GEAR and HORSE APLENTY being checked when HORSE APLENTY was being taken out onto the hindquarters of ENTHUSING which became badly unbalanced. M Guyon was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 12 January 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the racemeeting to be conducted in Dubai on Friday, 6 January 2012 on which day Jockey Guyon has accepted an invitation to participate in an International Jockeys Challenge. Near the 100 Metres, ALL FRIENDS was crowded for room between MASTER GUNNER and ANCIENT KINGDOM which shifted out after being bumped on the hindquarters by ALL FRIENDS. Approaching the 100 Metres, ENTHUSING was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOU KNOW I WIN which shifted in. Throughout the race, HORSE APLENTY and ALMIGHTY WINDPOWER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of PERFECT GEAR after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CITY KING after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CITY KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EIGHT PLUS NINE had sustained abrasions over the back of the right hind tendon and was lame in the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, EIGHT PLUS NINE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. OPEN SESAME and REAL SUPREME were sent for sampling.
