SPEEDY WARRIOR was withdrawn on 25.5.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EPEE DE HUA (U Rispoli). Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDY WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On arrival at the Start, it was noted that YOUNG SUPREME had blood in the mouth. A veterinary inspection of that horse revealed a small laceration to the tongue. YOUNG SUPREME was passed suitable to race. EVER KING was crowded for room at the start between NOBLE TWINS and YOUNG SUPREME which shifted out. In this incident, NOBLE TWINS became unbalanced after being bumped by EVER KING. From the outside barrier, FIERY PATROL was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early stages, both YOUNG SUPREME and WORLD WAY proved difficult to settle. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, EPEE DE HUA was slow to muster speed. Approaching and passing the 1400 Metres, GOOD LOOKING WATCH proved difficult to settle and over-raced for a short distance. Passing the 1400 Metres, GRAND GENERAL was steadied away from the heels of MEGA CASTLE (B Prebble) which shifted in when not quite clear. B Prebble was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Throughout the race, PRIMROSE BOY travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Also throughout the race, GRAND GENERAL travelled wide and without cover and finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of GRAND GENERAL after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and also an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GRAND GENERAL will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. REAL DRAGON, MEGA CASTLE and TREASURE GLITTER were sent for sampling. <28/5/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that KUNG HEI FAT CHOI was lame in the right front leg on the day after racing. Before being allowed to race again, KUNG HEI FAT CHOI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that PRIMROSE BOY was lame in the left front leg on the day after racing. Before being allowed to race again, PRIMROSE BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
