ENJOY THE FUN was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of LIFE OF BEAUTY which was taken in by FULGURITE. SICHUAN LEGEND was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, JOLLY VICTOR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1200 Metres, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of LIFE OF BEAUTY. Near the 1000 Metres, JOLLY VICTOR got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of TRAVEL GUIDE which itself was being steadied to allow NOTUS to cross. Passing the 300 Metres, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE raced in restricted room between AFRICA LIGHT and LIFE OF BEAUTY which shifted out. After the 300 Metres, EL GRANDE was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between DRAGIMOVA and NOTUS. D Oliver (EL GRANDE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BRILLIANT WORLD, causing that horse to be checked and to blunder. In the circumstances, D Oliver was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 18 June 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after Saturday, 9 June 2012. A Suborics (JOLLY VICTOR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of TRAVEL GUIDE, resulting in that horse being hampered and taken across the rightful running of INTELLECTUALSTRIDE which was checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled. A Suborics then continued to allow JOLLY VICTOR to shift in, resulting in TRAVEL GUIDE being crowded for room and being steadied over the concluding stages. In this incident, TRAVEL GUIDE bumped the hindquarters of PAPAS which became unbalanced. A Suborics was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 2 July 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 20 June 2012. In addition, A Suborics was fined $25,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Throughout the race, NOTUS travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that PAPAS had sustained superficial abrasions on the back of and the inside of the left hock. INTELLECTUALSTRIDE, EL GRANDE and NOTUS were sent for sampling.
