FINEZZA and MR BOND were slow to begin. From the outside barrier, VAUGIRARD was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, when the tempo of the race slowed, FUN RIDER (Z Purton) commenced to over-race and had to be checked away from the heels of ELEGANCE KLAMMER. When being checked, FUN RIDER shifted in, resulting in FINEZZA being crowded for room and checked. As the Stewards were satisfied that Z Purton had made every reasonable effort to check away from the heels of ELEGANCE KLAMMER without causing interference to FINEZZA, no further action was taken. Also after passing the winning post on the first occasion, PERFECT CHEERS was left racing wide and without cover and after the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride forward to race outside the lead. After the 1100 Metres, VAUGIRARD got its head up and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MR BOND. After the 1000 Metres, DRAGON FIGHTER was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 450 Metres, ELEGANCE KLAMMER and FUN RIDER were crowded for room inside MR BOND which got its head on the side and hung in. BANKSTERS BONUS had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and then passing the 100 Metres was steadied away from the heels of WITHINMYHEART and shifted to the inside of that horse to obtain clear running. A veterinary inspection of MR BOND and FINEZZA after the race did not show any significant findings. FINEZZA, WITHINMYHEART and ENABLING were sent for sampling.
