JADE PINS was slow to begin. SNITZEL KID shifted out at the start and bumped EXPECTATOR. From wide barriers, NORDIC STAR and KING ON EARTH were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Rounding the Home Turn, SNITZEL KID shifted out, resulting in EXPECTATOR being taken out and making contact with RIYADH which became unbalanced. After this, EXPECTATOR got its head on the side and for some distance raced tight inside RIYADH. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ALL LUCKY, Z Purton stated that after being able to obtain the lead without having to make too much use of the horse, ALL LUCKY was then taken on in front by TRAVEL GUIDE. He said with TRAVEL GUIDE racing directly to his outside, ALL LUCKY would not settle and travelled too keenly throughout the race. He said because of this ALL LUCKY was not able to finish off its race. A veterinary inspection of ALL LUCKY after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on AUSPICIOUS START at the request of Trainer T K Ng. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination confirmed the horse to be a “roarer”. ABSOLUTE FANTASY and EXPECTATOR were sent for sampling.
