On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to DISTINCT COMMANDER was refitted. LA COTE DE BLEU lost ground when crowded for room at the start between DISTINCT COMMANDER and CHARTER VICTORIA, both of which shifted ground. RECORD AGAIN and DRAGON GLORY bumped heavily at the start and then a short distance later RECORD AGAIN was crowded for room between DRAGON GLORY and CHARTER VICTORIA which shifted out to relieve the tightening to LA COTE DE BLEU. Shortly after the start, COOL PAL was crowded for room between WINNING BOY and LUCKY DAY which, after initially being bumped by FIERY FOUR BY FOUR, then shifted out of its own accord. In this incident, COOL PAL bumped the hindquarters of WINNING BOY. Near the 1300 Metres, WINNING BOY got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASY JEWELLERY. At the 1300 Metres, BUNDLE OF HEART, which was racing ungenerously, got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MEDIC SWORDSMAN. Approaching the 1100 Metres, COOL PAL shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of BUNDLE OF HEART, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, COOL PAL shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of RECORD AGAIN. Near the 750 Metres, LA COTE DE BLEU commenced to prove very difficult to settle and shifted out when being checked away from the heels of FIERY FOUR BY FOUR. COOL PAL, which was following, shifted out abruptly away from the heels of LA COTE DE BLEU and in doing so bumped RECORD AGAIN, causing that horse to become unbalanced and be taken wider. Passing the 400 Metres, SUGAR CITY was shifted out away from the heels of LUCKY DAY which got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. After passing the 400 Metres, A Suborics (SUPER CAGA) dropped his whip. Near the 200 Metres, FIERY FOUR BY FOUR was shifted in away from the heels of DISTINCT COMMANDER. Passing the 100 Metres, CHARTER VICTORIA had some difficulty obtaining clear running. For the majority of the race, MEDIC SWORDSMAN travelled wide and without cover. LUCKY DAY, MEDIC SWORDSMAN and DRAGON GLORY were sent for sampling.
