NOBODY BUT YOU began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped THE PRINCE on jumping. MASSIVE shifted out at the start and hampered CHARITY JOY. Approaching the 800 Metres, EASTERN PROMISE, which was being shifted across behind SEASONS STAR, struck the heels of that horse and blundered badly, resulting in its rider, Apprentice C Y Lui, almost being dislodged. Apprentice Lui was shown video replays of the incident, in the presence of the Club’s Race Riding Instructor, and advised in future to ensure that he is aware of the circumstances of the race as they unfold and to apply the appropriate amount of judgement. A veterinary inspection of SEASONS STAR immediately following the race revealed that horse to have sustained a wound over the inside of the right hind heel bulb. Throughout the race, CHARITY JOY travelled wide and without cover and for some distance after the 800 Metres got its head up and proved very difficult to settle when being restrained to obtain a position with cover. Making the turn after the 600 Metres and again making the Home Turn, SPITFIRE got its head on the side and lay out. For some distance approaching and passing the 500 Metres, EASTERN PROMISE got its head on the side when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MASSIVE which shifted in when racing greenly.
