CHEERS JOY began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of CIRCUIT STAR which became unbalanced. A short distance after the start, ENTHUSING was buffeted and lost ground when crowded for room between CHEERS JOY which shifted out and FUN HEROES which shifted in. In the early stages, CHEERS JOY was left racing wide and without cover and near the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride forward into a position outside the lead. Near the 800 Metres, FUN HEROES was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 600 Metres, CIRCUIT STAR shifted in and bumped MY HOME TOWN. Near the 500 Metres, CIRCUIT STAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EASY TO RICH. MING HOI TREASURE was unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the Straight and after the 50 Metres was shifted out across the heels of EASY TO RICH which was giving ground. Near the 300 Metres, MY HOME TOWN was momentarily disappointed for running between CHANCELLOR and EASY TO RICH which shifted in. Over the concluding stages, CIRCUIT STAR and CHANCELLOR raced tight. Also over the concluding stages, FLUKE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of MING HOI TREASURE. When questioned, M Chadwick stated that at its most recent start the horse was able to obtain a relatively soft lead, however, tonight he had to make use of COUNTRY CHARM in the early stages to cross CHANCELLOR to his inside. He said after crossing that horse and obtaining the lead after the 1200 Metres, CHEERS JOY then improved its position after the 900 Metres to be racing outside COUNTRY CHARM and when this happened, COUNTRY CHARM would not relax as it did at its most recent start. He said COUNTRY CHARM came under pressure at the 300 Metres and then weakened over the concluding stages. He added that whilst COUNTRY CHARM appeared disappointing on face value, the circumstances of tonight’s race were in contrast to that of its most recent start. A veterinary inspection of COUNTRY CHARM after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CHEERS JOY after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CHEERS JOY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHEERS JOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of EASY TO RICH after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FORTUNE WINNER had lost its right front plate. MY HOME TOWN, NOBLE DE BEST and CIRCUIT STAR were sent for sampling. <10/1/2013 Additional Veterinary Report> COUNTRY CHARM, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. COUNTRY CHARM was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Hall this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, COUNTRY CHARM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
