On arrival at the barriers, it was noted JACK’S GEM had a minor superficial abrasion to the inside of the left hock. JACK’S GEM was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. HEARTLAND lifted its front feet as the start was effected, began very awkwardly and in doing so bumped the inside gate of its barrier. NO TIES began awkwardly. From a wide barrier, DEMON DEMON was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1100 Metres, FRIENDS OF YAN OI was steadied when tightened for room between NO TIES and EXPEDITE which shifted out slightly. HEARTLAND made the Home Turn awkwardly. MERIDIAN TREASURE brushed the running rail rounding the Home Turn. Passing the 200 Metres, SUPER BROTHER was shifted away from the heels of MERIDIAN TREASURE which shifted out. Near the 50 Metres, SUPER BROTHER shifted out and inconvenienced NO TIES. Throughout the race, DAY DAY HAPPY travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of DAY DAY HAPPY after the race did not show any significant findings. EXPEDITE and MERIDIAN TREASURE were sent for sampling.
