Jockey M Chadwick (TERRIFIC MASTER) was fined the sum of $5,000 for presenting to weigh out for this race with the incorrect saddle cloth. As the start was effected, FIGHTING BOY dwelt and was slow to begin. Having regard to FIGHTING BOY having previously been barred for being slow to begin, the Stewards ruled that the horse must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. From wide barriers, ONE OF A KIND, HO WONGCHOY and GOLD TALENT were taken across behind runners in the early stages. At the 1200 Metres, STARTING OVER shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FORTUNE TERRITORY which became unbalanced and shifted in, resulting in STARTING OVER being crowded for room outside LOVING STAR. Rounding the Home Turn, GOLD TALENT was shifted out away from the heels of SUPER HORSE. In the Straight, TERRIFIC MASTER got its head on the side and lay out under pressure. For the majority of the race, FORTUNE TERRITORY travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ONE OF A KIND, D Whyte stated that with some cushion in the track, it was anticipated that ONE OF A KIND would be suited. He said from barrier 9 he discussed how ONE OF A KIND should be ridden with Mr C H Yip, the trainer of the horse, and it was decided that it would be in the best interests of the horse for it to be taken across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. He said it was felt that were the horse to be ridden positively in the early stages, ONE OF A KIND may be left racing wide and accordingly may not be able to finish off its race. He added after obtaining a position worse than midfield with cover after passing the winning post on the first occasion, ONE OF A KIND travelled only fairly and, in his opinion, did not travel as comfortably as when he had ridden the horse in the past. He said nonetheless he expected ONE OF A KIND to quicken when asked, however, the horse came under pressure prior to the 500 Metres and then was disappointing in its failure to close off the race. A veterinary inspection of ONE OF A KIND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE TERRITORY and HO WONGCHOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STARTING OVER and PLAIN RED BANNER were sent for sampling. <8/5/2014 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Officer reported that TERRIFIC MASTER was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, TERRIFIC MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
