On arrival at the Start, O Doleuze expressed concern regarding the action of WINNING APEX. An examination of WINNING APEX conducted by the Veterinary Officer did not identify any obvious abnormalities. Jockey Doleuze however continued to express concern relative to the action of WINNING APEX and advised that he was not comfortable to ride the horse. Accordingly, WINNING APEX was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING APEX will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DANEWIN EXPRESS was slow to begin. PEPPERMINT was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. From the outside barrier, JAMESINA was also taken across behind runners in the early stages. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, GRIFFINDOR failed to muster speed and after travelling a short distance was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. For some distance approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, DANEWIN EXPRESS and GRIFFINDOR raced tight. Then near the 1100 Metres, GRIFFINDOR was steadied when unable to maintain its position behind DANEWIN EXPRESS and GOOD GOOD VIEW. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KING’S STEED travelled keenly after being crossed by HEALTH WISE. Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, PEPPERMINT became unbalanced after jumping a shadow on the track. Near the 1100 Metres, ENDORSING got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEALTH WISE. GOOD GOOD VIEW travelled wide and without cover until the 600 Metres. Near the 250 Metres, B Prebble (JAMESINA) dropped his left rein. KING’S STEED was unable to be ridden right to the line when racing tight over the concluding stages inside GOOD GOOD VIEW which shifted in after initially being directed in by GALAXY PRANCER. A veterinary inspection of KING’S STEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STARTING OVER and GALAXY PRANCER were sent for sampling.
