BOSSA NOVA began awkwardly. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, CITY POWER, which began awkwardly, failed to muster speed. From wide barriers, SKIP COURT and HOW SPEEDY were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, STARTING OVER raced in restricted room inside DOUBLE DRAGON which got its head on the side and shifted in. When being steadied to obtain a position with cover after beginning from a wide barrier, CELESTIAL SMILE proved difficult to settle after the 1300 Metres. Approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, NUMERO UNO proved difficult to settle and near the 1100 Metres shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN. After the 1000 Metres, SUGAR CITY was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, CITY POWER got its head on the side and hung out. CITY POWER continued to hang out until after straightening. Passing the 75 Metres, MIGHTY EQUUS shifted out under pressure. Over the concluding stages, CELESTIAL SMILE shifted in abruptly under pressure. A veterinary inspection of STARTING OVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HOW SPEEDY, MIGHTY EQUUS and NUMERO UNO were sent for sampling.
