FLYING KEEPER began only fairly. From wide barriers, PEACEFUL MISSION and KING ON EARTH were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. JUST GOOD, which was leaning on the outside of its stall, began awkwardly and then shifted out abruptly, losing ground. BERNARD’S CHOICE was crowded for room at the start between GOOD SMILE which began awkwardly and ELEPHANT MAGIC which shifted out. After being crossed by COLUMBUS LINE, POSITIVE ENERGY commenced to prove very difficult to settle near the 900 Metres and got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of COLUMBUS LINE. Near the 350 Metres, RAY OF GOLD shifted out and brushed ELEPHANT MAGIC. Near the 200 Metres, SOLAR DRAGON shifted to the inside of RAY OF GOLD to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped POSITIVE ENERGY. Approaching the 100 Metres, RAY OF GOLD was shifted to the inside of the heels of COLUMBUS LINE after being disappointed for running outside that horse and inside BERNARD’S CHOICE. When RAY OF GOLD shifted in, SOLAR DRAGON was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of that horse. PEACEFUL MISSION lost its right front plate near the 100 Metres. Over the concluding stages, CAPTAIN AMERICA and SOLAR DRAGON raced tight inside RAY OF GOLD. Also over the concluding stages, JUST GOOD was held up for clear running and consequently was not able to be ridden out to the end of the race. In the Straight, KING ON EARTH hung in under pressure. GOOD SMILE travelled wide and without cover throughout the race and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of PEACEFUL MISSION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RAY OF GOLD, BERNARD’S CHOICE and COLUMBUS LINE were sent for sampling.
