MAROON PRINCE began only fairly. As the start was effected, HELEN’S CHOICE lifted its front feet off the ground and began awkwardly and then was bumped by AMAZING GIFT which shifted out. PACKING PERFECT shifted out at the start, resulting in LUCKY GAINS being crowded for room out onto SOLAR BOY. After this, PACKING PERFECT was taken across behind runners. Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, STAR OF WAI BO failed to muster speed. Approaching and particularly making the turn near the 700 Metres, LINMANIA got its head on the side and hung out badly, resulting in HIGH RETURN and MAROON PRINCE being severely hampered when taken wider. A veterinary inspection of LINMANIA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners and performance of LINMANIA, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LINMANIA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMAZING GIFT got its head on the side and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NEW PET approaching the 600 Metres. Near the 200 Metres, AMAZING GIFT was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of HIGH RETURN. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY GAINS immediately following the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. MAROON PRINCE, JOY TOGETHER and STAR OF WAI BO were sent for sampling.
