DASHING DART was slow to begin. SPICY KAKA began only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between GLACIER BLUE which shifted out after beginning awkwardly and HAPPY WAY WINNER which shifted in. GOOD FOR YOU was slow to begin. REGENCY BO BO began awkwardly and on jumping was bumped by BOLSHOI BALLET which shifted out. From a wide barrier, MASTER STEED was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From the outside barrier, FURIOUS PEGASUS travelled wide and without cover throughout. Near the 1300 Metres, REGENCY BO BO was awkwardly placed outside the heels of BOLSHOI BALLET. Passing the 1200 Metres, GLACIER BLUE raced tight inside SPICY KAKA which lay in when also racing tight inside MAGNETISM. Approaching the 1000 Metres, MASTER STEED commenced to travel keenly and was checked away from the heels of MAGNETISM. Making the turn near the 900 Metres, SPICY KAKA raced tight between MAGNETISM which got its head on the side and lay in and DASHING DART which shifted out. SPICY KAKA was held up for clear running passing the 350 Metres. Near the 200 Metres, SPICY KAKA was checked when attempting to improve between BOLSHOI BALLET and MAGNETISM where there was insufficient room. SPICY KAKA then had difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 100 Metre was steadied away from the heels of DASHING DART which shifted out. UNBEATABLE GUTS had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance passing the 200 Metres. Approaching and passing the 100 Metres, DASHING DART had some difficulty securing clear running. Over the concluding stages, METALLIC STAR raced in restricted room between GOOD FOR YOU and EVEREST. A veterinary inspection of BOLSHOI BALLET, MASTER STEED and SPICY KAKA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on GOOD METHOD at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD METHOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EVEREST, REGENCY BO BO and GOOD METHOD were sent for sampling.
