After entering the track, O Doleuze was dislodged from MANHATTAN STRIKER which proceeded a short distance riderless without incident before being recaptured. FREE NOVEMBER bounded in the air at the start and began only fairly. SUPERNATURAL began only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded for room between SPICY DOUBLE and KING WINSA which was taken in by GOLDEN CANNON which got its head on the side and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. In this incident, SPICY DOUBLE became badly unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by SUPERNATURAL and KING WINSA was also hampered when crowded for room inside GOLDEN CANNON. From wide barriers, MASSIVE POWER, STRIKING STAR and RED HORSE were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1200 Metres, STRIKING STAR commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up for some distance when being checked away from the heels of GOLDEN CANNON. After the 1100 Metres, GOLDEN CANNON was left racing wide and without cover and was allowed to stride forward to race outside the lead. SPICY DOUBLE and STRIKING STAR both made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly. SUPERNATURAL lay out making the Home Turn. MANHATTAN STRIKER had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. GOLDIE FLANKER was held up for clear running for a considerable distance in the early part of the Straight and after obtaining clear running inside FREE NOVEMBER passing the 200 Metres got its head on the side, hung out and was not able to be properly tested. The racing manners of GOLDIE FLANKER were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDIE FLANKER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. For some distance approaching and passing the 350 Metres, RED HORSE was held up for clear running when improving into tight running inside SUPERNATURAL. Passing the 300 Metres, KING WINSA and MASSIVE POWER bumped due to both horses shifting ground. After this, MASSIVE POWER lay in under pressure and approaching the 150 Metres shifted in and brushed KING WINSA. RED HORSE was again held up for clear running passing the 250 Metres. Over the concluding stages, KING WINSA raced tight between MASSIVE POWER and STRIKING STAR, both of which shifted ground. Consequently KING WINSA was not able to be fully tested. For the majority of the race, KING’S STEED travelled wide and without cover. KING WINSA, STRIKING STAR and MASSIVE POWER were sent for sampling.
