STARLOT shifted out at the start and bumped THE CHAMP. From wide barriers, SHOWING CHARACTER and NOBLE DE BOY were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Passing the 1000 Metres, IDYLLIC WIND was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAVEN STREET. ROOKIE STAR, which was following IDYLLIC WIND, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence before being shifted back in passing the 900 Metres to obtain cover. Passing the 700 Metres, SNOWHOOVES raced close to the heels of YOUNG DREAMER. Passing the 400 Metres, SNOWHOOVES raced tight inside HAPPY HAPPY which improved into tight running inside HAVEN STREET which commenced to give ground. Then rounding the Home Turn, SNOWHOOVES was again awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOUNG DREAMER. Approaching the 200 Metres, STARLOT and SHOWING CHARACTER both improved into tight running between HAPPY HAPPY and IDYLLIC WIND. STARLOT and SHOWING CHARACTER then continued to race tight for some distance with SHOWING CHARACTER being eased passing the 150 Metres when unable to maintain its position between STARLOT and IDYLLIC WIND. For the majority of the race, IDYLLIC WIND travelled wide and without cover. The performance of HAVEN STREET, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAVEN STREET will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of HAVEN STREET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. NOBLE DE BOY and SNOWHOOVES were sent for sampling.
