ROYAL RACER and CALIFORNIA LEGEND bumped at the start. CHARITY WINGS was crowded for room on jumping between GENTRY which shifted out after being brushed by ALPHA HEDGE and BUNDLE OF ENERGY which shifted in. This resulted in CHARITY WINGS bumping the hindquarters of GENTRY which became badly unbalanced and shifted out abruptly, causing CHARITY WINGS to be checked when crowded for room inside BUNDLE OF ENERGY. When being checked, CHARITY WINGS bumped the hindquarters of BUNDLE OF ENERGY which became unbalanced, shifted out and hampered SHINEALOT. As a result of these incidents, CHARITY WINGS, BUNDLE OF ENERGY and SHINEALOT were all shifted across behind runners from wide barriers. From the outside barrier, ACCLAIMED LIGHT was also steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TRUE GRIT was steadied away from the heels of ROYAL RACER which was taken in by SEIZE THE SPIRIT (K C Leung). K C Leung was advised to ensure that he is properly clear of other runners when shifting ground. Approaching the 1100 Metres, GENTRY shifted out marginally when awkwardly placed behind ALPHA HEDGE. When GENTRY shifted back in behind ALPHA HEDGE, CHARITY WINGS, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence. Then approaching the 800 Metres, CHARITY WINGS got its head up when being shifted out from behind GENTRY. Passing the 1000 Metres, ROYAL RACER got its head up when travelling keenly. Near the 450 Metres, TRUE GRIT was taken wider by ROYAL RACER which shifted out. In the early part of the Straight, DR RACE was awkwardly placed behind SEIZE THE SPIRIT. Near the 200 Metres, SEIZE THE SPIRIT and BUNDLE OF ENERGY raced tight. Over the final 100 Metres, both TRUE GRIT and ALPHA HEDGE shifted out under pressure. A veterinary inspection of GENTRY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TRUE GRIT and ALPHA HEDGE were sent for sampling.
